Yield 1 litre
A simple nut milk recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw nuts (almonds and cashews are on high rotation in my kitchen)
- 4 cups water
- Extra water for soaking the nuts
Optional:
- Cacao powder
- Ground cinnamon
- Vanilla bean powder
Instructions
- Cover the nuts with water and soak for at least 8 hours. I usually soak them overnight in a covered bowl.
- Drain the water and rinse well.
- In a high-powered blender, add the nuts and the 4 cups of water and blend for 1-2 minutes.
- Strain the milk through a nut milk bag or muslin cloth. And there you have it - homemade nut milk.
- If you're adding extra flavours, pop the milk back into the blender with the extra ingredients. Blend until combined and serve ice cold.
Notes
Store the milk in the fridge and make sure you shake well before you enjoy as the pulp from the nuts may settle.
